November Summaries
Last week I mentioned that November through 47 years is mostly a dry month (.62 average precip.) and temps. in the average range of 40 degrees high during the day time and 20 night time. There are some exceptions though and last week I mentioned five Novembers that were different. The following are a few more that were unusual:
1993: Cool month – Average high temp. 35° – Freezing temp. every night – Above normal precip. at 1.42 with a total of 24 inches of snow, 17 inches of snow pack into December. (14 inches of added snowfall during December sending 16 inches into 1994 which melted quickly because of a mild January 1994.
1994: Rather mild month – Average high temp. 43° – First 17 days very mild with an average of 50 degrees – Freezing temps. every night though except one – Moisture below average at .44 with five inches of snow which carried over into December.
1996: Extremely cold month – Average high temp. of only 25° with 6 nights below zero – Snow started falling on the 12th and kept adding up to a total of 18 inches with several blizzards – 13 inches of snow pack greeted December – Moisture melted down from snow measured 1.56 – (December was not a fun month for the Ipswich area with snow pack increasing to 18 inches by the end of the month)
1998: Average high & low temps. normal – 65° on Thanksgiving Day brought some golfers out – Moisture above normal at 1.13 and 7 inches of snow but all melted by the 23rd.
2000: Below normal average high temp. of 32° – Average low temp. below average also – High moisture at 2.07 – Month started with .50 of rain then snow started to fall which eventually added up to 21 inches and 12 inches carries over into December. (December 2000 was a terrible month with cold temps., added snowfall and blizzards)
