The Ipswich boys basketball varsity finished 14-8 last year and would certainly like to be in the thick of things again this year under new head coach Stewart Bohle, assisted by Trent Osborne.
They start the season on December 13 in a girls/boys twinbill playing North Central at Bowdle. (This is a league game.) The Tiger boys will return home to host Langford Area in another LRC clash on December 15 in the Tiger Den.
That regular-season schedule will move along towards the post-season drama beginning with the regionals on February 27. (The State B will again be in Aberdeen on March 16-18.)
The seniors include Ian Beyers, Carter Geditz, Tyler Hettich, Evan Onken, Colby Sylte and Turner Thorson. The juniors would be Trevor Heinz, Jace Konsor, Chet Peterson, Blake Rich and Xavier Kadlec who will participate in both wrestling and basketball.
"Xavier will be very busy,” said Osborne. “The first few weeks are tough enough in one sport, let alone doing two. He is a tough kid, but this will test him, for sure.”
And some underclass sophomores and freshmen will certainly add additional depth. Especially since there are five sophomores and 12 freshmen. The tenth graders are Hayden Crissman, Tucker Kadlec, Max Kulesa, Rasmus Loken and Luke Waltman.
The incoming ninth-grade hopefuls will include Nate Bass, Ty Bauer, Brody Davis, Casey Geditz, Mac Heinz, Kyle Hettich, Jaxson Holt, Tucker Miller, Josh Rausch, Matt Severson, Kingston Sylte and Kaden Weig.
That all adds up to 28 boys in the 9-12 IHS high school basketball program this season.
