Ipswich hosted Sully Buttes in a boys' high school non-conference confrontation on Tuesday, January 10 and came away with a relatively easy 63-46 victory especially during the second half.
It took that long for the visitors to hang around, trailing Ipswich 16-14 in the first quarter and then evening things at 26-26 at intermission.
But Ipswich jump-started its third-quarter attack with a pair of treys from Tyler Hettich. Ipswich would then go ahead 50-33 with a quarter to play which is good. That's because each team would then score 13 points in a final stanza stand-off. So maybe the game was indeed a little more competitive than the final score would indicate!
Hettich finished with 16 points, featuring a trio of three-balls. Next would be Trevor Heinz with 15 points. After that the scoring was really balanced with Carter Geditz contributing eight points and Colby Sylte, six points. Ian Beyers and Blake Rich each added four points and Chet Peterson, Jace Konsor, Turner Thorson and Tucker Kadlec each scored two points followed by Evan Onken and Tucker Miller with a free throw apiece. (Ipswich connected on 28 floor shots that included those three treys and went 4-10 in free throw opportunities.)
The visiting team, meanwhile, obtained a game-high 18 points from Wesley Wittler and he would become their lone double-figure scorer that evening. But seven additional Chargers were able to break into their scoring column.
Ipswich obtained 30 rebounds led by Geditz and Sylte with seven rebounds apiece. The Tigers had 16 turnovers (Sully Buttes 19). Ipswich totaled six assists, led by Beyers with four. The Tigers came away with 17 steals, paced by Hettich and Beyers with four thefts each.
