Ipswich sustained a Lake Region Conference 45-31 girls' high school basketball loss at Faulkton last Thursday, Jan. 19.
The hosts would manufacture a 15-4 lead at the first-quarter ending that the Tigers weren't quite able to totally overcome the rest of the game. Ipswich would however outscore the Trojans 11-9 in the second stanza to trail 24-15 at intermission. But Faulkton would then narrowly lead the third-quarter's scoring 9-6 and also enjoyed a two-point 12-10 scoring edge in the final quarter to seal the deal.
Faulkton obtained six different scorers led by Paislee Martinmass and Addison Melius with 14 points apiece. Carley Cotton also climbed the double-figure scoring plateau with her 11 points. Kelli Stoecker scored three points, Ashly Seen two points and Jaymi Senn a free throw.
Ipswich was led by Ashlyn Weig with 12 points including a trey and Gabby Wald scored seven points that also featured one trey and had three steals defensively. Kaylin Onken had four points and Katie Bierman, Anna Nierman and Quincy Olivier two points apiece. Karlie Gohl and Marley Guthmiller each obtained one free throw.
Ipswich utilized 23 rebounds led by Olivier with five boards. Faulkton obtained 37 rebounds led by Paislee Martinmaas with 11 boards for an impressive double-double. Ipswich had 16 turnovers; Faulkton, 18.
Ipswich made 11 deuces, two treys and three free throws. Faulkton countered with 12 deuces, two treys and 15 huge free throws.
