Daryl D. Haar

Daryl D. Haar, 63, Bowdle, died Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls.

Daryl Dean Haar, son of Lila (Job) and Dawaine Haar, was born at Ipswich on February 9, 1959. He was brought up near Bowdle and attended Bowdle Public School, graduating with the Class of 1977. He was then employed with Perry Hoffman Harvesting.

Daryl married Dianna Frankfurth at Bowdle on June 30, 1978. They first lived in Kansas where Daryl worked with Sam Spicer in harvesting. They then spent 1½ years in Aberdeen where Daryl was employed at Mickelson Farm Equipment and was employed at Jim Smith Harvesting. In March of 1980, they relocated to Casper, Wyo. where he was an oil field trucker. Daryl returned to Aberdeen in the summer of 1990, where he drove truck with his dad, Dawaine, and trucked for Prairie Land Express of Jamestown, N.D. Daryl moved to Bowdle in 1995 and operated his own trucking company until 2004. At the time of his passing, Daryl worked as a farmhand and harvester with the Hoffmans. Daryl was a great fan of college football and basketball, the NFL, and Yellowstone. He enjoyed playing gin rummy, talking on the phone, and visiting. Daryl especially cherished the time he could spend with his family.

Daryl is survived by his father, Dawaine of Aberdeen; one son, Jason (Kabrina) Haar of Herreid; two daughters, Tonya Huber (Allan Jung) of Ipswich and Ashley (Luke) Hague of Herreid; one brother, Darwin (Amanda Streeter) Haar of Groton; one sister, Debbie (Leroy Anderson) King of Sundance, Wyo .; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lila, on July 11, 2014; one son, Brian, on April 10, 1983; one sister, Dora Bonen; and two brothers, Doug and Dallas.

Services are scheduled on 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowdle, led by Pastor Janet Sandmeier.

The organist will be Dani Hoffman and usher will be Philip Peterman.

Honorary bearers will be Daryl's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Urn bearers will be grandsons Talen Haar of Herreid and Taten Haar of Pollock.
