Eva Mae Besler was born May 11, 1927, to Sam and Magdalene (Rosin) Besler on their farm 12 miles southwest of Bison in Perkins County. She attended rural school in that area. Being the second oldest of 14 children, she was needed at home.

Eva was a quiet but concerned lady. She was a hard worker who was strong-willed, independent, and very committed to her family. She was a member of Landmark Gospel Church. She often prayed and had a very strong faith. She loved singing and listening to praise songs and reading or listening to scripture. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, cooking, gardening, and traveling.
