IHS Art teacher to be honored

Ipswich art teacher Angela Shimitz was honored by the South Dakota Art Education Association (SDAEA).

Shimitz will be honored as the 2023-24 high school art teacher of the year at the SDAEA Fall Conference on Oct. 7 in Spearfish.

Ipswich art students have received numerous honors this year.

Jennifer TerWee of Brandon Middle School was named the 2023-24 middle school art teacher of the year. Emily Charlson of Dakota Prairie Elementary in Brookings was named the 2023-2024 elementary art educator.

The 2023-24 Art Teacher of the Year is Erin Rieff of Brandon Valley Middle School.

The SDAEA Fall Conference will be held at BHSU in Spearfish October 5, 6 and 7, 2023
