Ipswich track and field athletes earn wins at indoor meet

Ipswich attended a high school and middle-school indoor track and field hosted by Aberdeen Roncalli last Friday at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen.

The Tigers obtained several individual event wins in both categories and included a few multiple placements in various events.

Marley Guthmiller was first in the varsity girls' 55-meter hurdles at 9.85. Gracie Lange did that in the high jump at 4-08.00 and also won the long jump measured at 14-05.50. And Ipswich went 1-1-3 in the girls pole vault tied by Quincy Olivier and Guthmiller at 8-00.00 for first with Kathryn Kilber third at 7-06.00.

The IHS girls combined for a medley relay win in 3:41.46 ran by Brianna Geditz, Vanesa Diaz, Ashley Ptacek and Madisyn Gellhaus.

Meanwhile there were several first-place boys' finishers. Indeed Tyler Hettich was first in the 55-meter dash at 6.87 followed closely by teammate Trevor Heinz in 6.96. That first and second varsity effort was improved to three high placements in the boys 800-meter run led by Maxwell Kulesa in first at 2:11.07, Turner Thorson second in 2:11.83 and Ian Beyers third in 2:14.79.

Carter Geditz won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.30.

The boys also won the medley relay in 3:04.31 and those runners were Kyle Hettich, Tyler Hettich, Thorson and Kulesa.

Tyler Hettich was quite busy that day with a 6-02.00 winning high jump. Darrel Yost was first in the pole vault at 10-06.00 and Lucas Rowland obtained a first-place shot put effort at 45-03.50.
