Ipswich experienced some success in difficult competition at the Howard Wood Relays last weekend in Sioux Falls.
The Tigers were particularly successful in some boys Class B relay events. They were third in the medley in 3:43.57 ran by Trevor Heinz, Kyle Hettich, Turner Thorson and Maxwell Kulessa and also third in the 4x800 staffed by Turner Thorson, Ian Beyers, Casey Geditz and Maxwell Kulessa at 8:31.15.
They added a fifth in the 4x100 and those runners were Kyle Hettich, Colby Sylte, Tyler Hettich and Trevor Heinz in 45.20.
The Tigers boys added a sixth in the 4x200 at 1:35.05 ran by Kyle Hettich, Tyler Hettich, Ian Beyers and Trevor Heinz. They also finished sixth in the 4x400 ran by Turner Thorson, Casey Geditz, Ian Beyers and Maxwell Kulessa in 3:39.28.
Trevor Heinz was also fifth in the open long jump at 21-05.25.
The IHS girls were able to obtain some notable results as well over the weekend in Sioux Falls.
"We also had athletes do really well at O’Gorman on Friday," says Coach Todd Thorson.
Gracie Lange won the Open High Jump competition. "Gracie Lange high jumped 5'2 at O’Gorman and is tied for first in state with that jump. She is 1" off our school record."
At O’Gorman Friday Quincy Olivier was eighth in the Open Pole Vault at 8-06.00. Lucas Rowland was fourth in the Open Shot Put with a 46.00 throw.
Meanwhile Ipswich hosted the Lake Region Conference event on Tuesday
