The North Central Area (NCA) Thunder made an appearance and earned third place in the 10U State Slow Pitch Softball Tournament in Sioux Falls on July 22 and 23.
They started off the tournament on Saturday with a big win of 11-0 against Faini from Sioux Falls. Next, they faced the Fireflies from Watertown and won that game 12-6. In their final game on Saturday, they faced Hometown Hardware also from Watertown with another big win of 14-0.
Those three wins put them in the winners bracket on Sunday where they faced the top two teams in the 10U division. Their first game was against Warner, who eventually won the 10U division with a loss of 1-11. In their second game on Sunday, they lost to Mobridge who went on to get second place in the 10U division with a loss of 0-15.
"This NCA Thunder team, who met just a couple of times before their state appearance and only played two games prior, came together and showed heart and determination along with amazing sportsmanship," said coach Debbie Wherry.
