Aqua Addicts perform at Regional contest, still performing locally

The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts Water Ski Team participated in the 31st Midwest Regional Show Ski Tournament, held in Evansdale, Iowa from July 28 to July 30, 2023.

This prestigious tournament brought together top water ski teams from across the region, showcasing their talent and skills on the water. The Aqua Addicts demonstrated their commitment to excellence, placing sixth overall with a score of 1230.87 points.

The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts held their own against some of the best show ski teams in the Midwest. The team's passion, dedication, and outstanding performances were evident throughout the event, leaving a lasting impression on the audience and fellow competitors.

Individual Results for Aberdeen Aqua Addicts:

• 4th place: Shawn Cutler and Willow Heinz with an impressive score of 9.7 points

• 9th place: Jacob Grebner and Desitny Fuher with a commendable score of 8.46 points

• 12th place: Taylor Thorson and Aurora Washenberger showcasing their skills with 7.8 points

The Twin City River Ratts from Minneapolis were first in the Regonal Ski Tourament competition with 1711.33 points. Eleven teams from Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota competed.

The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts Water Ski Team, a non-profit organization founded in 1995, has been at the forefront of promoting water skiing and fostering a sense of teamwork and leadership within the community. The team's commitment to providing quality water skiing training to people of all ages, regardless of their abilities, has made them a prominent figure in the waterskiing community in South Dakota.

"The 31st Midwest Regional Show Ski Tournament has been an incredible experience for our team," said Todd Thorson, Show Director of the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts. "We are immensely proud of our accomplishments and the dedication shown by our members. Our success is a testament to the passion we have for water skiing and the hard work put in by each member of the Aqua Addicts."

With four shows left this summer, the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts invite the community to be a part of their thrilling performances every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Dahme Lake, 3301 S Hwy 281, Aberdeen. The final show of the season will be on August 24. It's a perfect opportunity for families and individuals of all ages to witness the excitement and exhilaration of water skiing while supporting a dedicated and talented team.
