IHS Footall varsity season begins Friday in Faulkton

This year's Ipswich varsity football team will currently have 21 players with only three seniors. But they include Kadyn Weisser, Trevor Heinz and Chet Peterson, three names that fans should definitely recognize.

And there are some additional juniors that should provide more upper-class leadership. They are Max Kulesa, Rasmus Loken, Justin Rohrbach, Tucker Kadlec and Bohdi Wilcox.

Another good aspect of this year's team are 11 sophomores who should gain experience as the season progresses along. They are Kyle Hettich, Jaxon Holt, Casey Geditz, Nate Bass, Kaden Weig, Kingston Sylte, Brody Davis, Joshua Rausch, Gunnar Knittel, Matthew Severson and Mac Heinz. Two freshman hopefuls are Lane Braun and Tyler Gellhaus.

Ipswich will be coached by Brian Hogie, assisted by Stewart Bohle, Matt Pollock and Caleb Schentzel.

The Tigers will open their campaign against a Faulkton rival that will kick off their Lake Region Conference agenda on Friday, Aug. 18 on the road.

Another highlight of the season should be a homecoming Gala Day clash on October 6 vs. Dupree, hosted by Ipswich. And the Tigers will host two more games on their home field vs. Northwestern on August 25 and against Warner on Sept. 1.

The playoffs begin on October 19.
