To the Editor:

TO THE CITIZENS OF IPSWICH: Do you realize how some of your city tax dollars are being spent? Most recently, on several occasions, I personally observed that the city has been using tax payer resources to spray for mosquitoes at Golf View Acres and other private land between Golf View and the City. Golf View is in the county, not the city, and does not pay city taxes. Yet, City tax dollars (personnel, equipment and spray) are being used to spray for mosquitoes there. To my knowledge, any approval or reimbursement that may be happening for this activity has not been discussed in an open public meeting or recorded in council meeting minutes.

Another example of tax dollars being wasted: chip sealing in Ward 1. Why would anyone think that putting chip seal in Ward 1 was a good use of money and resources, when it is tentatively scheduled to be torn up next year for new storm sewer?

I think it is time to recognize the wastefulness that is occuring within the current City administration. The tax dollars being wasted could be used instead to offset current and future infrastructure expenditures. The taxpayers of this City deserve better oversight.
