Tigers improve record to 1-1

Ipswich resumed its varsity football schedule with a 48-10 win over the Northwestern Wildcats on August 25 in the Tiger football complex.

That improved the Tigers record to 1-1 and they will next host league rival Warner on September 1. Meanwhile Northwestern dropped to 0-2, but they were able to have some bright spots in their loss, particularly in the second half.

Ipswich had methodically fashioned a 34-0 lead at intermission and then added a quick third-quarter score to further improve its lead.

Ipswich first got on the scoreboard with a Max Kulesa pass to Trevor Heinz covering 23 yards and added a PAT run by Kulesa. And Kulesa then added a 10-yard TD run with the PAT play failing. Rasmus Loken then got a huge 16-yard interception runback TD with the PAT also failing. Casey Geditz then electrified the hometown fans with a 75-yard TD scamper. Trevor Heinz would then add a three-yard scoring run capped by Kulesa's PAT pass to Tucker Kadlec.

Kulesa then found Trevor Heinz with a 18-yard TD pass completion with the PAT play failing. Kyle Hettich would get in Ipswich's scorebook with a 45-yard completion from Kulesa, who added the PAT run.

Northwestern's scoring would be a two-yard run by Dustin Dirksen and a Landon Braun PAT run. The Wildcats' remaining two points were on a safety.

Ipswich finished with 157 rushing yards, led by Geditz with 90 of them and Kulesa with 34. Ipswich added 231 passing yards, led by Kulesa at 12-14-0. Hettich was 3-93 in receptions and Trevor Heinz, 4-67 followed by Chet Peterson at 1-36.

The Wildcats were held to 170 rushing yards, paced by Dirkson at 26-154. They had zero yards passing that evening.

The Wildcats were led by Dirksen with seven tackles. Brody Davis had 15 tackles for Ipswich, followed by Justin Rohrbach with 11 and Rasmus Loken with 10.
