NORTH CENTRAL
The North Central cross country team attended an invitational near Redfield on August 31.
There were two NC varsity girls in their race — Grace Roth 46th in 23:30.83 and Kassandra Abbas 53rd in 24:02.72.
Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern won the girls event in 18:20.10, while the boys varsity winner would be Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County in 16: 59.60.
The NC boys did manage seventh of 16 teams in the team standings that were won by Dupree. One reason would be Anthony Miller 28th in 19:02.06 and Drew Arbach was next for NC in 32nd at 19:12.68. Their next scorer was Avery Wells who was 35th in 19:23.58. And Theo Haerter was 49th in 20:34.09.
And North Central's girls and boys were both fifth in their respective JV team standings.
For the NC girls Mikaela Malsom placed 11th in 13:40.53. Lily Roth was 33rd in 15:04.75 followed by Sophie Kroll who was 48th in 16.19.93. In the boys JV outcome Keegan Miller was 13th in 11:59.51 and Jason Arbach was 17th in 12:09.83. And Aaron Ingerson was next in 25th at 12:24.88. And don't forget Noah Ingerson who was 36th in 12:51.20.
The Thunder had one middle-school boy that day and he was Hayden Sprague who was clocked at 8:26.03. But there were three Thunder middle-school girls, led by Katherina Malsom 26th in 8:53.20. Gwen Pruskowski was 58th in 10:18.87 followed by Unity Wolmarans 63rd in 10:33.48.
The NC cross country was scheduled to run today, Sept. 6 in Hoven at the Potter County Invitational. They will run Saturday in Ipswich.
IPSWICH
Ipswich attended a high school cross country invite near Redfield last August 31.
Senior Xavier Kadlec entered the boys varsity event and finished 16th in 8:43.12. There were two varsity girls from IHS and they were Madisyn Gellhaus in 29th at 21:52.72 and Gracyn Kadlec 35th in 11:15.30.
Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern individually won that event at 18:20.10 and the boys overall varsity winner proved to be Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County in 16:59.60.
There were two Ipswich boys JV runners including Tyler Gellhaus in 15th at 12:06.70 and Tye Pietz 48th at 13:18.28. And there was one JV girl that day in the person of Bella Unser who was 49th in 16:20.65.
Things were a little more hectic for the Ipswich middle-school events.
The boys managed to place fifth in their JH team standings won by Highmore-Harrold. Ethan Wald placed fifth in 7:29.40 while Brayan Paguaga was 10th in 7:47.83. Edison Unser was 51st in 9:27.29, Benjamin Hoyle was 54th in 9:32.66 and Riley Pietz was 59th in 10:19.52.
The middle-school girls would place second only to Herreid/Selby Area 14 to 17 in their team standings.
Jennay Gisi placed second individually in 8:01.44. Bella Henderson was sixth in 8:20.56, while Emri Braun was 13th in 8:35.09. Then was Aubrey Crissman in 15th at 8:38.66, followed by Braelyn Holt in 17th at 8:39.58. Olivia Kadlec added a 20th in 8:43.45.
Ipswich will host an invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Athletic Complex.
