Warner Monarchs stop Tigers at home

Ipswich was defeated in Lake Region Conference football action last Friday in Ipswich with the score being 35-6 in favor of the visiting team the powerful Warner Monarchs.

That equated to five touchdowns and five perfect extra-point kicks by Alec Mikkelsen.

The Monarchs had methodically manufactured their first TD a one-yard keeper by Hunter Cramer plus the first of those five accurate kicks.

But Ipswich would answer with its own scoring drive capped by Max Kulesa with his two-yard scamper. But Ipswich would fail to get into the end zone with an unsuccessful two-point conversion try that left the Tigers down 7-6. And the Monarchs would gradually add four more insurance touchdowns and all those accurate PAT kicks.

Brodey Sauerwein caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Cramer. Payton Volk added a five-yard TD run, Cramer a 49-yard breakaway and Volk another 27-yard scoring run.

The Monarchs unofficially tallied 273 rushing yards led by Cramer at 11 carries for 102 yards and Volk at 10-91. They added 205 passing yards from Cramer with 16 completions. Unofficially Ipswich countered with 64 rushing yards led by Casey Geditz at 47. Kulesa was additionally 15-31 through the air for 154 yards.Trevor Heinz became Kulesa's favorite receiver with 97 yards on nine catches. Kyle Hettich added 46 yards on three receptions.

Defensively Trevor Heinz had 10 solo tackles and Chet Peterson added seven solo efforts for the Tigers. And Warner, meanwhile, was led by Charlie Dulany with 10 tackles.

Ipswich will next travel to Northwestern on Friday. The Tigers will be looking to even their record at 2-2.
