North Central was defeated 3-0 in high school volleyball action last Tuesday in Mobridge. But the Thunder would hang around in all three of their sets, losing 25-13, 25-18 and 25-17.
They were 71/86 in hitting and included 20 kills, led by Amree VanderVorst at 21-23 with four kills. Ella Batie was next at 16-21 with her seven kills and Billie Jo Hoffman added a 10-12 effort at the net that featured three kills. (Mobridge-Pollock obtained 33 kills led by Charley Henderson with 10 of them.)
Meanwhile the NC netters were 104/109 in setting things up and distributed 18 assists. Sydney Bertsch went 79-82 in that phase of their game and included 14 assists.
They were 46/50 at the service line with three aces, paced by VanderVorst at 8-11 with two aces. Then Jenisa Jacobs, Hoffman, Bertsch and Natalie Bieber each contributed an 8-8 evening in serving.
The Thunder had 48 digs, led by Jacobs with 16 of them. They added five blocks, featuring Bieber with three and VanderVorst with two.
