Tigers FB victorious over Wildcats

Ipswich claimed a 44-6 high school football verdict over Northwestern last Friday in Mellette.

The Tigers obtained a 10-yard TD run by Casey Geditz to put them on the first-quarter scoreboard. And there was a successful two-point conversion play.

The Tigers then added a second-quarter score with a Max Kulesa pass to Kyle Hettich that covered 12 yards. But the conversion attempt would fail. So Ipswich would lead 14-0 at intermission.

They then manufactured a productive third quarter. It all started with a 25-yard TD run by Geditz. The PAT attempt failed. Next was a touchdown pass from Kulesa to Trevor Heinz of 15 yards and Kulesa tacked on a conversion run. Kulesa again found Heinz with a scoring strike of 18 yards and Kulesa also passed to Chet Peterson for the two points. Peterson would then catch a 40-yard touchdown pass from Kulesa capped by a Geditz PAT carry.

Northwestern would finally get in their scorebook with a fourth-quarter 41-yard TD pass from Dallas Stoltenberg to Cole Caulder. The Wildcats would finish with 98 rushing yards and added 54 through the air.

Ipswich ended up with 130 total rushing yards on 16 carries. Geditz led that effort with nine carries for 67 yards and Rasmus Loken was 3-29.

The Tigers would add 151 passing yards from Kulesa with 12 completions in 19 tries and one interception. Trevor Heinz caught three passes for 45 yards, Peterson added two catches for 48 yards and Hettich went 7-57 to lead them all.

Ipswich had 15 tackles by Geditz and 13 apiece from Brody Davis and Justin Rohrbach.

That outcome improved the Tigers' season record to 2-2 and they will next play Herreid/Selby Area on the road on September 15.
