The NC Thunder topped Langford Area in straight sets during LRC volleyball action last Tuesday at home in Eureka.
But the visitors were definitely able to hang in all three sets. The Thunder would create identical 25-23 wins in each of the first two sets. And the Thunder would settle the matter with a little easier 25-19 third-set victory.
The North Central netters were led by Amree Vander Vorst with nine kills in her 16-19 night at the net. Next would be Ella Batie at 14-16 there with three kills. (They totaled a 54-69 hitting evening that included 19 kills.)
Langford was led there by Megan Gustafson at 23-25 with seven kills. The Lions were able to total 72 hits that would include 24 kills.
The Thunder was led in setting by Sydney Bertsch at 74-76 with 17 assists. The Thunder distributed 89 total sets that featured 19 assists.
The Thunder were also able to land five aces, led by Natalie Bieber at 10-11 with one ace and Sydnee Malsam was 9-10 with one ace as well. (They totaled 43 accurate serves.)
The Thunder came up with 49 digs, paced by Jenisa Jacobs with 14 digs and Vander Vorst with nine. (Langford utilized 77 digs led by Alex Darling with 18.) North Central also had two blocks, one each by Batie and Bieber.
