Thunder volleyball drops two

VS.. SULLY BUTTES

The North Central netters did it the hard way vs. Sully Buttes last Tuesday. They dropped their initial match 25-16, but came back with three straight victories --25-23, 25-17 and 25-16.

NC utilized 32 kills among their 106 accurate hits, led by Amree Vander Vorst at 32-36 with 11 kills. Next would be Natalie Bieber at 25-33 with 10 kills.

They were 154-161 in setting including 29 assists, paced by Sydney Bertsch at 114-118 with 19 assists. And in serving they landed 82 of 90 attempts that featured 11 aces. Vander Vorst went 20-20 with three aces and Bertsch added a 11-11 one ace evening followed by Jenisa Jacobs at 16-17,2.

You may credit the Thunder with 75 total digs led by Jacobs with 20 and Vander Vorst with 15. They added four blocks by Bieber and two by Ella Batie.

VS. ABERDEEN CHRISTIAN

North Central dropped a league volleyball affair to Aberdeen Christian last Thursday, Sept. 21 in Bowdle. It was a straight-sets 3-0 outcome. (The scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-18 in favor of the Knights.)

They utilized 100 accurate hits that featured 23 kills. Chloe Bosma led that department with a perfect 27-27 six kills evening. Meanwhile the Thunder finished 96-119 at the net with 21 kills paced by Amree Vander Vorst at 28-32 with 10 kills. Ella Batie was next with five kills among her 26 total hits.

The Thunder were 48-61 in serving with three aces. Vander Vorst went 7-7 with one ace and Jenisa Jacobs was 10-11 at the line. Billie Jo Hoffman also finished 15-18 there with one ace.

The Thunder setting chores were mostly handled by Sydney Bertsch at 110-110 with 17 assists. Their team finished 141-142 with 18 assists.

The Thunder came up with 84 digs, led by Jacobs with 30 of them and Hoffman with 14. Batie and Bieber each added one block.

North Central played in Ipswich on Monday evening. The next day they hosted Leola/Frederick Area in the Edmunds Central School. Their busy week will continue on Thursday at Strasburg/Zeeland. Tuesday, Oct. 3 they play Leola/Frederick Area again, this time at Leola.
