Catholic Daughters Sunday to be celebrated by local Court on Oct. 15

Members of Court St. Katharine Drexel, #2516, a local court of the national organization Catholic Daughters of the Americas will honor Catholic Daughters on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

The Catholic Daughters are one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. Catholic Daughter women enjoy each other’s company at meetings, share Catholic spirituality, give generously to local and national charities and work hard for their parishes and communities.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas was formed nearly 120 years ago and today numbers 63,000 dues-paying members in 1,150 courts (local chapters) in 45 states across the country, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

Court St Katharine Drexel #2516, was formed on June 11, 2003. It has 24 members from the Parishes in Roscoe, Bowdle and Hosmer. Court St. Katharine Drexel meets once a month in Roscoe, at the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish hall. They gather to discuss business, pray, share spirituality, plan charitable endeavors and enjoy a Catholic sisterhood together as members.

Among the local charities the court supports are Aberdeen - Safe Harbor, financial assistance with the Mina billboard “Say a Hail Mary”, Mobridge - Bridges Against Domestic Violence, Bishop’s Burse, House of Mary Shrine, Respect Life Office and TV Mass. National charities supported by the court are Habitat for Humanity, Holy Cross Family Ministries (Family Rosary), Laboure’ Society, National Center for Sexual Exploitation (Morality in Media), SOAR (Support Our Aging Religious), Apostleship of the Sea, Basilica of the National Shrine, Catholic Extension. Catholic Relief (Health & Life), Disaster Relief Fund (…Florida Hurricane Relief, Maui Fire Relief), Human Life International, Missionaries of Charity (National Mother Teresa Charity), National American College in Rome, and the Tutwiler Clinic.
