We did barely manage to get up in time for the Gypsy Day parade Saturday in Aberdeen. It turned out that it would be fairly decent weather-wise as the day would progress.
We caught most of the bands and there were some really impressive ones. Edmunds Central School’s band looked and sounded good. Ipswich had other commitments that day and could not attend. The Tigers are scheduled to march in Groton on Friday and driving to Brookings for Hobo Days on Saturday. Though we did get to see the IHS band in the Gala Day parade in Ipswich on Friday.
The bands in area may need gloves when they march in the fall. We heard a story on the radio about the opposite problem facing marching bands in Arizona. Due to extended hot weather, the brass instrument players are finding it too hot to comfortably hold their instruments. I guess gloves might help them as well.
