vs. Herreid/Selby Area
The North Central netters lost a homecourt high school volleyball to Herrreid/Selby Area last Thursday. It was a three-set affair — 25-15, 25-22 and 25-21, all in favor of the visitors.
But a bright spot was that the Thunder were able to get 30 kills among their 105 accurate hits. Amree VanderVorst went 31-38 at the net with 13 kills and Natalie Bieber was 19-23 with five kills. The Wolverines countered with 138 hits at the net that included 38 kills. They were led by Jada Rossow at 19-22 with eight kills.
The Thunder were 155-159 in setting up their attack and they included 26 assists. Sydney Bertsch went 99-100 with 19 assists. And Jenisa Jacobs was 15-19 with four assists.
They featured seven aces in their 53 accurate serves and were led by VanderVorst at 17-17 with three aces. Bertsch went 10-10 with two aces.
The Thunder had 96 digs, led by Jacobs with 30 of them and were led in blocking by Ella Batie and Bieber with three blocks apiece. The rest of the team also contributed three blocks.
NC will travel to Wakpala on Thursday. They will play Warner Monday on the road.
vs. Leola/Frederick
The North Central netters were defeated 3-0 by Leola/Frederick last Tuesday.
The L-F Titans would win each individual set 25-11, 25-22 and 25-19.
But the Thunder were able to obtain 21 kills in their overall 78-100 net attack. Amree VanderVorst led that at 24-29 with seven kills followed by Natalie Bieber at 16-21 with five kills.
The Thunder's setting effort finished 115-117 with 16 assists. It featured Sydney Bertsch at 94-96 with a dozen assists.
North Central ended up 46 of 53 in serving and included eight aces. Jenisa Jacobs went 10-10 with three aces, Sydney Malsam was 11-11 with two aces and Bieber 11-12 with three huge aces.
Their defensive effort included 62 digs, led by Jacobs with 19 of them and VanderVorst with 16. Bieber and Ella Battie each added a block.
