Dennis Morris

Dennis Morris passed away on November 11, 2023, at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Bismarck, N.D.

A memorial service to honor Dennis's life and legacy was held at Nov. 16, 2023, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Interment was at a later date in Ipswich.

Born on Dec. 20, 1945, in South Dakota, Dennis spent his early years in Ipswich. He attended Ipswich Public School, where he received his education.

Following high school graduation, Dennis embarked on his career path. He found employment at the local gas station in Ipswich. Dennis's life took a turn when he was presented with the opportunity to work as a truck driver for the Freshy Candy Company. Excited for a new adventure which then brought him to Bismarck. Dedicated and dependable, Dennis built a commendable reputation as he traveled the roads, delivering sweet treats across the region. Following his employment with Freshy, he enjoyed 10 years with Menards and 17 years with Tractor Supply Company.

While working for Freshy Candy Company this must have made him semi-sweet as he met the love of his life, Jan, in 1980. Together they enjoyed 43 years raising children and grandchildren, bowling, golfing, and playing pinochle. Dennis found enjoyment at the casino from time to time as well.

In his free time, Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing with his son, Bryan. Their time together was Dennis' great pride and joy.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Melissa Scott and Delane Pope; his partner, Jan Goehring; son, Bryan and his partner, Rachel Belland; granddaughters, Savannah Goehring which whom Dennis called his pumpkin and Ashley Pope; grandsons, Hayden Scott and Chandler Pope; sisters, Beverly Jones and Donna Holland; brother, Darrel; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Michael and Marcella Pope; and many special nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Darlene Morris; brother, Dale; sisters, Judy Morris and Marilyn Maroney; brothers-in-law, Louis Jones, Douglas Holland and Larry Maroney; and granddaughter, Heather Pope.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in Dennis's honor.
