Boys basketball action starts

IPSWICH TIGERS

Ipswich returns a nucleus of players from last year's boys varsity basketball team and would like to be in the thick of things again this year. The team is coached by Stewart Bohle assisted by Caleb Schentzel.

For instance there are four seniors including Jace Konsor, Trevor Heinz, Xavier Kadlec and Chet Peterson. There are juniors Tucker Kadlec and Luke Waltman for some additional upper-class experience.

The sophomores include Kyle Hettich, Brody Davis, Casey Geditz, Jaxon Holt and Matthew Severson. That adds up to 11 varsity players thus far.

The team was scheduled to join the Tiger girls for a Saturday, Dec. 9 twinbill at Hitchcock-Tulare. The boys and girls then hosted a doubleheader vs. North Central on December 12.

The regular season will progress along towards regional tourney time, that's scheduled for February 26-27 and March 1. The SoDak 16 will be on March 5 followed by the State B on March 14-16. That's in Aberdeen!

NORTH CENTRAL THUNDER

North Central has 22 players on its 9-12 varsity roster under coach Scott Heyne and have had a busy pre-season practice schedule.

The Thunder will be led by four seniors: Brady Beitelspacher, Raynor Sprague, Cooper Oxner and Dawson Walz. The upper-class juniors will be Cole Beitelspacher, Tyler Bluhm and Tim Rucker.

The sophomores are Donovan Nelson, Harrison Beyers, Trent Beyers, Zane Haar and Jade Jacobs. There are no fewer than 10 freshman hopefuls. They include Gage Kaiser, Joshua Fargher, Aiden Goings, Seth Hettick, Waylon Sprague, Coby Wherry, Mason Kunz, Robert Bailey, Isaiah Heilman and Kaleb Scherr.

Heyne will be assisted by Skyler Frederick.

They were to have a pair of girls/boys twinbills, first at home vs. McIntosh in Eureka on December 9 (which was postponed) and then at Ipswich on December 12.

The Region 6A is February 27 and March 1 TBA while the SoDak 16 will be on March 5 and the State A is March 14-15-16 in Rapid City.
