The North Central Thunder girls' varsity basketball team hosted South Border in Roscoe on Friday, Dec. 15 and came up with a 49-33 victory over the North Dakotans.
The hosts had led 10-7 after a quarter and increased that to 20-14 at the half. The Thunder then led 39-26 after three quarters and didn't let up in the final quarter of action.
The Thunder finished with Amree Vander Vorst's game-high 19 points that included three treys. Ella Batie also reached double figures with her 10 points. Batie also grabbed 21 rebounds for a definite double-double.
Jenisa Jacobs would add eight points and Alaina Dosch and Katelyn Engelhart each contributed five points to their cause. Lindsey Geier closed the scorebook with her two points.
The visiting team countered with 14 points from Macy Monson and six players got into their scorebook that evening.
The Thunder totaled 54 rebounds and South Border 28. The Thunder, however, sustained 27 rebounds and the visiting team 21.
The Thunder totaled 18 floor shots that included their trio of treys and added 10 free throws. South Border countered with 14 baskets including two treys and were only 3-9 in free throw attempts.
The Thunder also won their JV game that evening.
The NC girls travelled to North Dakota to play Strasburg/Zeeland on Monday, Dec. 18.
