Ipswich split a non-conference high school varsity basketball twinbill last Saturday vs. Webster in Webster.
The boys would earn a 54-49 win with the Tiger girls losing 51-30.
Ipswich would lead at each quarter stop in the boys' outcome — 13-11, 34-24 and 40-39, respectively.
The Tiger boys enjoyed 17 points from Jace Konsor with four treys and Trevor Heinz and Chet Peterson were right behind him with 16 points apiece. Peterson featured one trey and Heinz added seven assists and five steals.
Their scoring tapered off to three points from Kyle Hettich and two points by Tucker Kadlec. They totaled 22 floor shots including those five treys and were 5-6 in free throws.
Webster ended up with a balanced scoring attack led by Matthew Mount with 12 points and Jack Shoemaker with 10 points. They were able to connect on 20 floor shots that featured five treys and added four free throws in eight tries. (Eight different Bearcats got into their scoring column.)
Ipswich utilized 25 rebounds led by Peterson's nine boards, while Webster grabbed 34 rebounds. But Ipswich only committed eight turnovers and Webster, 13.
Versus Webster the girls fell behind 10-8 at the first quarter break and then trailed 22-13 at intermission. The Tigers then fell behind 38-24 with a quarter to play.
But they were led by Gabby Wald with her 15 points that included one trey. And Anna Nierman had six points on two treys. Kaylin Onken scored three points and Brianna Geditz, Marley Guthmiller and Tristan Geditz had two points each.
The hosts were led by Erin Sannes with 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. They totaled 64 rebounds and Ipswich, 40 boards led by Onken with seven retrieves.
Ipswich included that trio of treys in its total floor shots and added seven free throws. The hosts counted 20 field goals that included a pair of treys and made nine free throws.
A bright spot for Ipswich was that it only committed 10 turnovers and the hosts incurred 20. Six of those were Wald's steals.
The Tigers hosted a doubleheader against Waubay/ Summit on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Then the boys will host Wilmot on Friday, Dec. 22.
