North Central would drop a league varsity high school basketball doubleheader to Warner last Friday in Roscoe. The score of the girls outcome would be 50-34 and the boys setback was 68-36.
Versus Warner's girls the Thunder would fall behind 23-7 after a quarter and then trailed 35-14 at intermission. The visitors owned a 43-25 lead after three stanzas and coasted to their win.
But Amree Vander Vorst would lead the Thunder with her 15 points that featured a trio of treys. Ella Batie was next with nine points (all free throws). Alaina Dosch added seven points that included a pair of treys and Jenisa Jacobs completed their scoring with three points.
Warner was paced by Kyra Marcuson with 17 points that was also game high and she included their three treys.
Kyleigh Schopp also got into double figures with her 10 points for the visitors. Altogether Warner would utilize eight different scorers.
The Monarchs totaled 21 field goals that included those three treys and added five three throws in 10 tries. North Central countered with nine baskets including the five treys and went 11-20 in their total free throw effort.
The Thunder girls had 25 rebounds, led by Jacobs and Bertsch, with five each.
BOYS
Now for the boys! The Thunder only trailed Warner 17-12 after a quarter, but the visitors would grab a 41-20 halftime edge. They would then lead 53-30 with a quarter to play.
Raynor Sprague led the Thunder with his 10 points that included one trey.
Cooper Oxner then scored six points with his pair of treys. Cole Beitelspacher scored five points including a trey and Dawson Walz also tallied five points. Kobe Wherry netted three points with a trey. Jade Jacobs also scored three points. And Tim Rucker and Zane Haar contributed two points apiece.
The visiting Monarchs and all scorers for that matter were led by Hunter Cramer with 21 points. Brodey Sauerwein was next with his 18 points including a trey. Gavin Lane had two treys in his seven points and Zach Evans also scored seven points. Three more Monarchs would enter their scorebook that evening.
The Monarchs featured 27 total field goals including their three treys and were 11-16 in free throw efforts. The Thunder responded with 15 baskets including five treys and went 7-13 in their free throw chances.
The Thunder boys had 25 rebounds, led by Rucker with seven boards.
