Nearly 300 strong join the 51st annual "Walk for Life"

Sunday, January 28, 2024, will long be remembered as South Dakota Right to Life's (SDRTL) 51st 'Walk for Life' and the day that #300 strong, passionately Pro-Life South Dakotans' traveled up to hundreds of miles to 'Walk for Life' beginning at the SD Capitol.

This years' GRAND MARSHALLS were the '10' South Dakota Pregnancy Care Centers.

Following the 'Walk for Life' guests made their way to the first floor of the Capitol for refreshments served by the Pierre Area Right to Life Chapter, the Catholic Daughters, and Remington Jankowski & Crew.

At 2 p.m. the 51st Annual 'Hour of Reflection', "Sanctity of Human Life", was held on the second floor Rotunda with #460+ enthusiastically attending. S.D. Governor Kristi Noem was represented during the program as Lt. Governor Larry Rhoden took to the podium and encouraged a 'Culture of Life'. Then Ian Fury took the podium, he serves on the Governor's staff. One of the hats he wears is that of the 'Governor's Unborn Child Advocate'. During his presentation he read the Governor's 'Freedom for Life Year' Proclamation.

The Keynote speaker was Bishop Donald E. DeGrood, Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls, receiving a standing ovation at the beginning and end of his presentation.

Student essay winners were presented, reading their essays were; Sydney Eide of Sioux Falls (First Place- Junior Division), and Emily Schutt of Huron (First Place- Senior Division).

The program ended with all in attendance singing "God Bless America".
