Ipswich journeyed to Wilmot last Thursday for a non-conference girls varsity high school basketball clash. But the hosts would end up with a 58-42 victory.
That was mostly due to Addison Heinje's school record 50 points that included her 25 appearances at the free throw with 21 accurate foul shots.
Ipswich had dominated the first half with a narrow 9-8 first quarter edge and a 18-16 halftime lead. But the Wolves would grab a 34-24 lead with a quarter to play and added some crucial fourth-quarter points to ensure a victory for the hometown fans.
The Wolves received their remaining eight points from four different scorers! They finished with 16 accurate floor shots that would included two treys. And they totaled 24 accurate free throws.
Ipswich responded with some balanced scoring led by Anna Nierman with nine points and Kaylin Onken with seven points. Nierman included one trey.
Rylee Kleffman added six points on a trey and three free throws. Marley Guthmiller finished with five points, followed by Karlie Gohl, Jayssa Hutson and Brianna Geditz with three points apiece on treys. Tristan Geditz, Natalie Crissman and LaVayah Russell each added two points.
The Tigers totaled 14 accurate floor shots that included those treys and were 9-14 in free throws.
Ipswich grabbed 42 rebounds led by Tristan Geditz with 10 of them and Onken was next with eight retrieves. The hosts obtained 41 rebounds. They sustained 17 turnovers and Ipswich, 31. But Ipswich did have 12 steals led by Tristan Geditz with four thefts.
