North Central met Leola/Frederick in a key Lake Region Conference girls varsity basketball match on Thursday, February 15 and the Thunder sustained a 60-30 setback in Leola.
But the Thunder only trailed 13-9 after a quarter and were still very much in striking distance with a 28-23 halftime deficit. However the hosts would then grab a 43-27 edge with a quarter and got even more separation during the final stanza.
They were led by Laura Sumption with 24 points, followed by Jillian Ellwein with 15 points and Sofia Losure also into double-figures with her 10 points. Two other Titan scored — Olivia Morlock with seven points and Kalyce Achen with four points.
Meanwhile the Thunder received 19 points from Ella Batie and Alaina Dosch added four points while Amree Vander Vorst was next with one trey for her three points. Katelyn Engelhart and Carleigh Dosch were next with two points apiece.
The Thunder finished with 12 accurate floor shots that would include that trey. They were 5-8 in free throws. Leola-Frederick had 23 total baskets including eight treys and were 6-11 in their free throw tries.
