Great Plains boys get victory over NC

The North Central varsity boys played Great Plains Lutheran in Aberdeen on Monday, Feb. 19 and the results would be a 51-29 defeat for the Thunder.

North Central would actually lead 10-6 in the first quarter. But GPL would forge ahead 24-19 at intermission and would increase its advantage to 38-20 after three quarters were in the books.

GPL would be led in scoring by Brody Scharlemann with 17 points and seven more of their roster were able to get into their scoring column.

The Thunder were able to receive quite a balanced scoring effort led by three players with six points. They were Donovan Nelson, Raynor Sprague and Dawson Walz. Sprague included one trey. Next was Cole Beitelspacher with five points including a trey and Kobe Wherry had four points that featured a trey. And Brady Beitelspacher added two points.

The Thunder had six two-point field goals and those three treys. They added eight free throws. The GPL contingent netted 21 baskets inside the arc plus two treys. They netted three free throws.

GPL grabbed 40 rebounds and NC, 36 boards led by Sprague with nine of them and Walz with seven. And Great Plains Lutheran only sustained 11 turnovers and NC, 23.

The Thunder boys finished the regular season Friday hosting Sully Buttes in Roscoe. Region 6A play began Feb. 27.
