Ipswich hosted a difficult Lake Region Conference varsity basketball foe last Friday in the Tiger Den. And if you hadn't guessed they would be the Leola/Frederick Titans who would escape Ipswich with a 69-46 victory.
They would lead at each of the quarter endings - 18-4, 32-17 and 60-34, respectively and of course by the final margin.
They got balanced scoring led by Noah Kipley with 27 points and Brayden Sumption with 17 points and six additional LF players would score.
Still without Trevor Heinz due to his injury, the Tigers responded with 15 points by Chet Peterson including a trio of treys. And Jace Konsor reached double-figures with his 13 points that also featured three treys. Kyle Hettich also nearly got there with his nine points that would include one trey.
Xavier Kadlec added five points and Tucker Kadlec and Rasmus Loken two points apiece. Ipswich included those seven treys in its bundle of field goals and added a 7-12 free throw evening. Leola-Frederick totaled a warm 28 accurate floor shots and would include 10 treys and three free throws.
Ipswich totaled 36 rebounds led by Xavior Kadlec with six of them and the Titans responded with 34 boards. Ipswich committed 18 turnovers and LF, only 10. Xavier Kadlec forced three of them with steals. (The Tigers totaled eight steals.)
The Tiger boys hosted Highmore-Harrold in the opening round of Region 6B play. Tuesday's winners would play again on March 1. The bracket winners will play in the SoDak 16 on March 5. The State B Tournament will be played March 14-16 in Aberdeen.
