Ipswich and North Central get time for track and field

Ipswich and North Central track and field teams competed at the Rotary Relays in Mobridge on April 13, 2024.

The Ipswich team won the womens varsity division with 119 points. Mobridge-Pollock was second with 81 points. The IHS mens varsity team was second with 113 points, right behind the hosts, Mobridge-Pollock with 124 points.

The North Central men placed fifth and the women were ninth.

Madisyn Gellhaus won the 1600 Meters with a 5:23.17. IHS Pole Vaulters placed first and second — Jalyssa Hutson, 9’0 and Marley Guthmiller, 8’9.

Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich was the winner in the 100 Meters (11.36) and 200 Meters (23.39). The IHS 4x100 Relay got top honors at 45.00. Runners were Rasmus Loken, Hettich, Casey Geditz and Trevor Heinz. The 4x200 Relay team also won with a 1:33.89. Hettich, Geditz and Heinz were joined by Brody Davis. Loken and Davis were first and second in the Pole Vault. Loken at 11’0 and Davis at 9’0. Heinz was the winner in the Long Jump competition with a 20’8.5 leap.

NORTH CENTRAL

Gabe Johnson helped lead the Thunder team. He placed first in the 3200 Meters at 11:06.42 and he was second in the 1600 Meters, 4:58.35.

Heading to the winner’s circle for the NC girls was Kaidence Bulgin, first in the 100m Hurdles with a 18.11.

Two NC athletes earned places in a new event for track and field — Javelin. Ella Batie was third with a 83’0 throw and Jillian Fischer was eighth, 75’2.

The Tiger Relays are planned on Saturday, April 20 at the Ipswich Athletic Complex. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. and running events begin at noon.
