Ipswich Golf Association exploring building a community special event center

The Ipswich Golf Association Board met with its members last Sunday night to discuss the idea of building an lpswich Community Special Event Center.

The golf board put a committee together several months ago and the committee presented the proposal to the members. The members were in support of moving forward after discussing the plans and agreeing what a huge addition this would be for the entire Ipswich Community.

The Special Event Center has been discussed for several years, but without a motel in the community it would be difficult to host larger events such as wedding receptions, anniversary and birthday events, larger corporation meetings, graduation receptions, family and business Christmas parties.

The Center will be for everyone in Ipswich and the surrounding area to use. These events bring income into our community, said Mike Hammrich, from gas stations to grocery stores, from motels and bars to eating establishments. "The

benefits it will bring to our community is something we've been taking out of town for many years. We hope to make the Special Event Center affordable for everyone to use for their special events and hope the fundraising to build the Community Events Center will be supported by the entire community and surrounding area," said Hammrich.

The committee knows there will be questions concerning the Community Event Center and they will be publishing questions and answers in the Edmunds County Tribune and on the Split Rock Facebook page.

Question #1

Will we be opening a bar or restaurant in the Community Event Center?

The Event Center will only be used for special events. We will not be competing with the bars or eating establishments. The Event Center in many cases will bring added income as people will need to eat and drink before and after these events start and end.

Question #2

Will these special events have an impact on using the golf course?

The Event Center will be used for Special Events that are social events. The golf course will be open for public play during these events. The only time the course is not open for public play is when the golf course is rented for golfing events, which is what the current policy is. The Special Event Center will not affect the public use of the course.

They will have additional questions and answers in the future and you can look at the Split Rock Facebook page also.
