4-H projects on display.
The 2024 Edmunds County Achievement Days were held on August 4-6 in Ipswich. The event started on Sunday afternoon with the Cat Show.
Monday morning began with the Dog Show. The dogs and members were judged on agility, obedience, rally, and showmanship. Top showman awards will be presented at Recognition Night. The Rabbit and Poultry Show was also on Monday morning.
Static judging started off the afternoon with over 200 exhibits being judged. This included exhibits by the 4-H members, open class, and Cloverbuds.
The 4-H Beef BBQ was held Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. Over 300 meals were enjoyed by the 4-H members, families, and the community. This was followed by the evening program which started off with the Pet Show. Next, was the crowning of the 2024 Royalty. The lucky winners were Cloverbud Princess Hazel Beyers daughter of Doug and Amber Beyers, Cloverbud Prince Cooper Galbraith son of Joe and Lacey Galbraith, Queen Hannah Beyers, daughter of Doug and Amber Beyers, and King Nicholas Fuhrmann, son of Bruce and Janet Fuhrmann. The Monday program ended with Project Runway and the announcement of the Best of Show Winners.
Tuesday morning started off in the livestock barn with 4-H members getting their animals ready for the livestock judging. There were over 60 livestock entered. The livestock show began at 8 a.m. with entries in swine, sheep, meat goat, dairy goat, and beef. The show ended with the Bottle Bucket Calf participants showing their calves and the pre 4-H livestock show.
The afternoon ended with the presentation of the Bottle Bucket Calf award to Wyatt Belcher. The Secret Alumni was announced as Heidi Preszler. The first correct guess was John Jung. The Family Herdsmanship Trophy was presented to the Lance and Barb Kaiser family. This was followed by annual Premium Sale.
Entries in the Pet Show on Monday evening were interviewed by Steph Jung and received ribbons and certificates. Winning members and their pet were: Hazel Beyers's Cat – Best Named, Cooper Galbraith's Dog – Cutest Pet, Connor Heinz's Dog – Coolest Trick, Abigail Hoyle's Dog – Most Snuggly, William Hoyle's Dog – Most Energetic, Brielle Olson's Dog – Softest Pet, Jemma Olson's Dog – Smallest Pet, Ryder Steen's Dog – Friendliest Pet, Jeremy Volk's Gecko – Most Unique, Jonathan Volk's Dog – Loudest Bark, and Felicity Wesch's Dog – Most Well Behaved.
