Fredrickson named to Senior Games Hall of Fame

Leann Fredrickson of Aberdeen, formerly from Ipswich, was named to the South Dakota Senior Games Hall of Fame Award in Pierre at the annual Senior Games Banquet on August 10.

Leann and her husband, Dale, have been participating in the South Dakota Senior Games over 30 years. This was the 40th Anniversary of the Games in South Dakota.

Leann, has participated in the Track and Field games-50, 100 and 200 Meter Dash, 400 and 800 Meter Walk, High, Standing, Running and Triple Jumps, Softball Throw and Shot Put. She also has done Bean Bag Throw, Shuffle Board. Jump Rope, Basketball Free Throws and Field Goals through the years

This year, Leann at age 88 (Bracket 85 to 89) received eight medals, seven Gold –50, 100, 200 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Walk, Standing Broad, Running Broad and Triple Jumps , and a Silver-Softball Throw.

Her son Scott and wife, Beth Fredrickson from Sioux Falls, daughter Sara and husband Brian and Granddaughter, Jillian from Paola Kan. attended the Banquet in Pierre in support their Mother and Grandmother.

Leann graduated from Ipswich High School in 1954-SEVENTY YEARS AGO. She taught in Rural Schools in Edmunds County and finished her career teaching Second Grade in the Aberdeen Schools retiring in 1994.
