Garry met and married Jean. They resided in Coeur d'Alene, Id. He worked at a sawmill where one of his jobs was to troll the lake looking for fallen logs. Later, Garry moved back to South Dakota. He was a truck driver and loved his job. He met Mary Bauer while she was working as his waitress at the Starlight Truck Stop. After that relationship ended, he met and married Rena in Washington State. They moved back to South Dakota and resided on a farm southwest of Ipswich. Garry was involved in a farm accident which led to the loss of his right eye. He then moved to a farm southeast of Mina. He worked at Menards in Aberdeen. Gary was a very sociable person and really loved the job.

Garry then moved to Ipswich, however he truly loved living on the farm. He had a love for all animals, but most of all his horses. He enjoyed going uptown for coffee with the coffee drinkers.
