The North Central volleyball team played two matches last week versus Faulkton and South Border, N.D.
The NC Thunder volleyball team hosted Faulkton in Roscoe on Sept. 5. The match gave the Trojans the win, 3-2.
Faulkton got the first win 23-25, but then the Thunder took over, winning 25-22 and 25-21. Then the Trojans won the next match 20-25. The tie-breaker went to Faulkton 13-15.
NC was 142 of 161 for hitting with 31 kills. Amree Vander Vorst led that 74 of 83 with 19 kills.
North Central serving was 78 of 87 with five aces. Vander Vorst was 17 or 17 with one ace.
Sydney Bertsch was 146 of 151 in setting with 24 assists.
The team had 133 digs, led by Vander Vorst 35 and Alaina Dosch 34. The Thunder had three solo and two assisted blocks. Makaylah Jones had two.
South Border topped North Central on Sept. 3 in Ashley. 22-25, 18-25, 21-25.
The Thunder was 83 of 98 in hitting with 18 assists. Vander Vorst was the leader, 43 of 49 with 12 kills.
In serving NC was 55 of 62 with two aces. Sydney Bertsch was 11 of 12 and Lindsey Geier was 10 of 12 with two aces.
NC setting was 105 of 112 with 20 assists. Bertsch led with 88 of 92, with 18 assists.
North Central travelled to McLaughlin on Sept. 9. NC hosts Mobridge-Pollock on Sept. 10 in Eureka. The Thunder team plays at the Aberdeen Christian School on Sept. 12.
Roscoe will host a North Central Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14. Teams playing in the event include Ipswich, Timber Lake, McIntosh and Stanley County. NC plays at Langford on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
