Annual worship service at Powell Church in Pioneer Village

by Leann Fredrickson

The Annual Powell Church Service was held on September 15 with many former members and guests present.

The Powell Church is located in the Ipswich Pioneer Village. The Powell Church was moved to Ipswich from 12 miles south of Ipswich on the Highway 45 in 1984, 40 years ago.

Rev. John Hisel was the speaker. To the delight of those who had attended church in this building, he opened his remarks with a short history of the Powell Church.

The Annual Event is hosted by the Flower and Garden Club.  Twelve former members were present and five attendees had been married in the Powell Church.   Bonnie Hodson welcomed everyone with a Program Bulletin. Glen Hodson and Cassius Pond served as ushers. Patty Kadlec of the Garden Club welcomed everyone.  Marsha and Terry Howard gave the Call to Worship.   Dennis Benton gave the Prayer.  Noel Pond  gave the Benediction.

Roland Pond led the singing of Hymns accompanied by Sara Gayley, daughter of Leann Fredrickson. Leann played the Prelude.  Bob Pond offered the prayer for the offering.  A Welsh Hymn "Guide Me Oh Thou Great Jehovah" was sung with fervor by all.

Memorial Remembrances of Dale Fredrickson and Dean Hodson were given by Leann Fredrickson.

A Pot Luck followed the service at the UCC Church. The Flower and Garden Club hosted this meal, which was enjoyed by everyone with good  food and visiting.   Pastor Hisel offered the Blessing.
