The North Central Thunder volleyball team began last week with a win over Langford, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.
Serving: North Central 68-74 11 aces (Amree Vander Vorst 18-20 3 aces, Camryn Witlock 14-15 3 aces, Sydnee Malsam 9-10 2 aces).
Hitting: North Central 89-105 33 kills (Vander Vorst 34-42 13 kills, Ella Batie 17-21 9 kills, Lindsey Geier 19-21 7 kills).
Setting: North Central 30 assists (Witlock 25).
Digs: North Central 70 (Alaina Dosch 15, Vander Vorst 13, Geier 12, Malsam 10).
Blocks: North Central 5 solo 2 assists (Batie 5 solo, Geier 1 assist, Makaylah Jones 1 assist).
Saturday, Sept. 21 the Thunder team competed in the Subway Invitational Volleyball Meet in Ipswich.
After three wins the Thunder faced Ipswich in the championship match. The Tigers won 2-0, 25-15, 27-25.
The Thunder began the day with a 2-1 win over Aberdeen Christian, 25-20, 14-25, 28-26.
Then North Central stopped Herreid/Selby Area 2-1, in three close matches: 30-28, 20-25, 26-24.
The Thunder girls met Timber Lake, winning 25-19, 25-21.
The North Central volleyball team will have another busy week. They hosted Sully Buttes in Bowdle on Sept. 24. Then they host Strasburg/Zeeland in Eureka on Sept. 26. Monday, Sept. 30 the Thunder host Ipswich in Bowdle. Then they go on the road Tuesday, Oct. 1 to play Leola/Frederick Area in Leola.
