Tigers stop Redhawks in first round playoff action at home

The Ipswich Tigers football team won the opening game in the 9A playoff bracket.

IHS, the #7 seed, stopped Estelline/Hendricks, the #10 seed, with a score of 44-12.

Jaxon Holt scored in the first quarter with a four-yard pass from Max Kulesa. Kulesa ran for the PAT.

The Tigers recovered a Redhawk fumble in the first quarter and worked rest of the quarter heading to the endzone. Ipswich scored at the beginning of the second quarter. Kyle Hettich received a 18-yard pass from Kulesa to score. Kulesa ran for the PAT.

Holt connected with Kulesa again in the second quarter, a 11-yard pass. A Kulesa pass to Hettich added the PAT.

The Tigers went to halftime with a 24-0 lead.

Third Quarter: 14-0

Ipswich rushed 221 yards on 29 carries. Geditz led with 109-yards on 13 carries. Hettich was 7-48.

Kulesa had 54-yards, 9-13 passing. Pass receiving leaders were Hettich four for 49-yards and Holt, 3-19.

E/H were 20-82 in rushing (Schwartz 10-25 and Cooper Schaeffer 2-42). Reitz was 7-18 for 88-yards passing.

Ipswich had 10 first downs, E/H three.

The Tigers leading tacklers were Rasmus Loken 10, Hettich 8 and Geditz 7.

The Tigers will play in the quarterfinal games on Thursday, Oct. 31. Ipswich will meet #2 seed undefeated Howard there.

Other 9A quarterfinal pairings are:

• Castlewood (6-3) at Wall (9-0)

• Depree (6-3) at Wolsey-Wessington (8-1)

• Philip (7-2) at Warner (9-0)
