Thunder GBB begins season with win at home

The North Central girls basketball team easily stopped Strasburg/Zeeland 41-14 at home on Friday, Dec. 6.

The Thunder girls scored 23 points in the first quarter. S/Z only one point. The half-time score was 37-5. The NC girls scored two points in each of the third and fourth quarters, allowing the S/Z girls to add nine points in the third quarter. The S/Z girls did not score in the fourth quarter.

The Thunder girls were led by Amree Vander Vorst with 12 points, including a three-point basket. Ella Batie had eight points and Carleigh Dosch, 7, including a three.

The Thunders had 25 rebounds, led by Vander Vorst and Batie, five each.

The S/Z girls leading scorer was Laura Haak with seven points. They pulled down 21 rebounds, led by Nicole Janczewski with seven.

The Thunder won the B game 33-21.

North Central will host Sully Buttes in Bowdle on Dec. 13. Saturday they play McIntosh there. They will host Ipswich in a girls/boys doubleheader in the Edmunds Central School on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
