The North Central girls were 1-1 last week in basketball game.
The Thunder girls hosted Sully Buttes on Dec. 13. The NC girls got a slow start against the Chargers 20-8 and then 33-19 at halftime. The Thunder girls then scored 11 in the third (30-49) and nearly caught Sully Buttes at the final buzzer 53-50.
NC was led by Amree Vander Vorst with 18 points, followed by Ella Batie with 15. Tylee Vander Vorst was also double-digit scorer with 10. Carleigh Dosch added four and Alaina Dosch had three. Four NC girls got three-pointers: A. Vander Vorst-3, T. Vander Vorst-2, Batie and Dosch-1 each.
Payge Bakker led the Chargers with 26 points.
Batie was the NC rebound leader with eight.
North Central won the B game, 27-20.
The next day North Central girls played at McIntosh. The Thunder got the win, 54-37.
Amree Vander Vorst scored a game-high 30 points for the Thunder, including a three. Rounding out scorers for NC were Batie with 10, A. Dosch six (two-three pointers), C. Dosch five, T. Vander Vorst two and Ashton Heyne one.
Mikki Maher led McIntosh with 19 points.
NC had 32 rebounds— A. Vander Vorst and Batie eight each. Amree had seven steals.
The Thunder girls and boys hosted Ipswich in doubleheader action on Tuesday, Dec. 17. They will both play South Border before Christmas — the girls on the road on Dec. 20 and the boys hosting SB in Roscoe on Dec. 21.
