The Ipswich basketball teams had a split decision when they met the Hitchcock-Tulare teams in a Dec. 14 doubleheader in Ipswich.
Both games seemed too close at half-time but that was when the paths changed.
The IHS girls were ahead 12-10 at halftime. But then the Patriots took charge. They won the contest 39-25.
Anna Nierman and Marley Guthmiller led the Tigers with eight points each. Brianna Geditz had six. Kaylin Onkin had two and Gabby Wald added one point
Rebecca Huizenga led the Patriots with 11 points.
Guthmiller had nine of the Tigers 39 rebounds.
The IHS boys also led by two at halftime, 15-13. They took over, scoring 24 in the third quarter to the Patriots five points. The final was 54-38.
The Tigers were led by Tucker Kadlec and Jaxon Holt with 16 points each. Max Kulesa added 13. Adding to the total were Kyle Hettich with four, Hayden Schlosser three and Casey Geditz two. Kadlec and Hettich had three-pointers.
Devin Enander led the Patriots with 22 points.
Kadlec had nine rebounds.
H-T had 31 turnovers, the Tigers only 15.
The Tigers will have two more doubleheaders before the Christmas break. They had DH action Tuesday against North Central in Roscoe. They double up again hosting Webster on Dec. 21. The IHS boys host Langford Area on Dec. 19 and then Tiger girls travel to Langford Area on Dec. 20.
