North Central hosted Timber Lake in a girls/boys doubleheader on Jan. 2 in the Edmunds Central School gym in Roscoe.
The NC girls got a win, 41-36. The Thunder girls were down at each quarter stop after the first quarter, but they took the lead in the fourth.
Amree Vander Vorst led the scoring with 17 points, followed by Alaina Dosch with 11. Dosch made three three-pointers. Tylee Vander Vorst also had a three-pointer in her five points. Ella Batie and Camryn Witlock each had four points.
A. Vander Vorst had a double/double, pulling down 10 rebounds. The Thunder had 33 rebounds with only 22 for the Panthers.
Timber Lake girls scoring was led by Jasmine Nash with 11.
The Timber Lake boys stopped the NC boys 63-40.
The Thunder had two with double-digit scoring — Donovan Nelson with 14 and Cole Beitelspacher with 11. Each had a three-pointer. Other NC scorers were: Jade Jacobs four, Kobe Wherry three and Tim Rucker, Trent Beyers, Zane Haar and Kaleb Scherr two each.
Nelson and Rucker each had eight rebounds.
The Panthers were led by Cole Ducheneaux with 17 points and Treyden Beer 11.
The NC boys played Herreid/Selby Area on Monday on the road. Then the girls hosted Potter County in Bowdle. Then they went on the road together for doubleheaders in Warner on Jan. 10. to Faulkton on Jan. 11 and then to Leola on Jan. 14. to play Leola/Frederick Area.
