Miss Ipswich chosen Snow Queen first runner-up

Miss Ipswich Kathryn Kilber was chosen the first runner-up in the 2025 Snow Queen Festival on January 11 in the Aberdeen Civic Theatre.

Kathryn said she was in shock when they announced her name. "I started clapping because I thought someone else was called," she said.

The local Snow Queens gathered on Thursday, Jan. 9. Their activities included thanking the sponsors in person and rehearsing. The girls enjoyed time at Skate Away with Frosty and the Dignitaries.

Friday was the day for interviews with the judges. The girls had time for crafts and activities. That evening was the Queen's Banquet and Ball.

Saturday they had more time for rehearsal and activities with their Snow Sisters. The girls also had a self-defense class.

Saturday ended with the Coronation. Each girl chose a question from a container. Kathryn's question was "Where would be two places you take a visitor in your hometown?" She answered Grandma's Ceramics Shop and the Parmley Museum.

As first runner-up she would take over as Queen if Miss Watertown cannot fulfill her duties.

Miss Watertown Katie Leadabrand was crowned the 2025 Snow Queen. She was also chosen Miss Congeniality. Miss Groton Gretchen Dinger was the second runner-up.

Kathryn is the daughter of Bobbie and Scott Kilber.
