Thunder basketball action, 1-1 after holiday break

The North Central Thunder were back to basketball action after their Christmas break.

The NC boys traveled to Herreid on Jan. 6, 2025. Herreid/Selby Area stopped the Thunder boys 56-51. The Thunder boys outscored the Wolverines in the second quarter 20-9. NC was up 30-22 at halftime.

Cole Beitelspacher led the Thunders with 12 points. Donovan Nelson and Zane Haar were right behind him with 11 points each. Other NC boys scoring were Kobe Wherry and Jade Jacobs with six each, and Tim Rucker five.

The Thunder team had 21 rebounds.

The next day the NC girls hosted Potter County in the Bowdle School gym. The game was tied at the end of four quarters 31-31. The Battlers got the overtime win 40-35.

Two Thunder players had double/doubles – Amree Vander Vorst had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Ella Batie had 12 points and 14 rebounds. Also scoring for NC were Carleigh Dosch with three, Alaina Dosch, Tylee Vander Vorst, and Ashton Heyne two each.

The Thunder had 41 rebounds and Potter County had 36.

The Thunder boys will host Potter County on Jan. 17 in Bowdle.
