North Central hosts Langford

The North Central girls and boys hosted Langford Area in Eureka on Jan. 25. The Thunder teams ended the evening with wins.

The NC girls led at each quarter break – 52-38 at the final buzzer.

Thunder Amree Vander Vorst led all scorers with 28 points, including five three-pointers. Ella Batie had 14 points. They both got double/doubles with 13 rebounds for Vander Vorst and 10 for Batie.

Other NC scorers were Tylee Vander Vorst five (one three-pointer), Alaina Dosch a three-pointer for three and Carleigh Dosch two. The Thunder girls pulled down 40 rebounds.

Alex Darling led the Lions with 18 points.

The Thunder boys struggled in the first half. Langford led 28-16 at half time and 34-29 after the third quarter. But then the NC boys took over, winning 46-42.

North Central was led by Kobe Wherry with 13 points (two three-pointers). Other Thunder scorers were Donovan Nelson and Jade Jacobs with nine each, Cole Beitelspacher and Zane Beyers five each, Aiden Goings three and Trent Beyers two. Beitelspacher, Haar and Goings each had three-pointers.

Kassen Keough led all scorers with 28 for the Lions.

Thunder will travel for a doubleheader to play Strasburg/Zeeland on Jan. 31. Then they will face Aberdeen Christian on Feb. 4 in the Aberdeen Civic Arena.
