The Faulkton Area Trojans came to Ipswich to play basketball but it wasn’t a doubleheaders. The girls played Jan. 23 and the boys played Jan. 24. The Tigers won both contests.
The girls’ teams were evenly matched, with the IHS team winning 49-41. The teams were tied twice and the lead changed twice.
Tristan Geditz led scoring with 11 points. Marley Guthmiller and Anna Nierman were right behind her with 10 points each. Guthmiller had a double/double with 10 rebounds as well. Other Tigers scoring were Kaylin Onken with six points, Gabby Wald five, Jalyssa Hutson four, and Brianna Geditz three.
Anika Mueller and Carley Cotten had 13 points each for the Trojans.
The Tigers had 42 rebounds and FA had 35.
The boys were also evenly matched. The Tigers had the lead at quarter – 9-8, 19-15, 27-25 and 39-29 at the final buzzer.
Tucker Kadlec led the boys with a double/double – 11 points and 20 rebounds. Other IHS scorers were Hayden Schlosser with eight points, Kyle Hettich and Max Kulesa seven points each, and Rasmus Loken, Casey Geditz and Shay Knust two each.
Spencer Melius led the Trojans with 11 points.
The Tigers had 43 rebounds and the Trojans had 27.
The IHS girls will host Herreid/Selby Area on Jan. 31. On Feb. 4 they play Leola/Frederick Area on the road.
The IHS boys played in Wakpala on Tuesday, Jan. 28. They play Herreid/Selby Area on the road on Jan. 30. Then they play Highmore-Harrold on the road on Saturday, Feb. 1.
